About NYC Skeptics

New York City Skeptics is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 educational nonprofit that promotes critical thinking, skeptical inquiry, and science education among the general public.

Since our founding in October of 2007, NYC Skeptics has quickly become one of skepticism's pre-eminent local organizations. We serve as a resource to the media and the general public regarding pseudoscientific and paranormal claims, as well as sponsor numerous activities designed to promote reason and rationality:

• Our Public Lecture Series hosts notable figures from the scientific and skeptical worlds including John Rennie, Carl Zimmer, James Randi, Matthew Chapman, Michael Shermer, and Richard Wiseman.
• We host an annual Darwin Day event and sponsor the New York City chapters of Drinking Skeptically and SkeptiCamp.
• We co-sponsor the Northeast Conference on Science and Skepticism (NECSS), a skeptical and scientific conference held annually in New York City.
• We publish the Gotham Skeptic blog and produce the Rationally Speaking podcast.
• We also organize the New York Skeptics Meetup Group.
